I hope everyone has had an enjoyable and relaxing summer.  Time is quickly winding down and we are three weeks away from the start of another school year.  I want to thank each of you for your support and I am thankful for this opportunity to serve our district.  I am proud of every employee for your dedication to our students, parents and community.

West Irvine Intermediate Student Council Wins Impact Award from KASA!

The West Irvine Intermediate Student Council will be recognized at the annual KASA Conference in Louisville!

Their VIP Project (Very Important Pet) was selected by the KASA blue ribbon judging panel as a winner.

Our two student council sponsors: Samantha Cox & Latosha Adams.

Student-Council representatives in video and attending KASA for presentation of grant: Maddie Rose, Hannah Brasher, Ella Seale, Hailey Richardson, Marlee Isaacs. WII Student Council has 40 members in total.

Preschool News

The preschool screening process has been completed for the 2017-18 school year. Teachers are scheduled to mail student letters on Friday, July 21.

If you have a 3 or 4 year old child interested in attending preschool, you may call South Irvine Early Learning Center at 723-4700.

The staff will be happy to add your child's name on a waiting list and you will be notified should an availability occur.

Also, new for 2017-18 preschool students will be 5 days a week.

Important dates and events:

  • Aug. 10th - Open House 5:00-8:00 P.M.
  • Aug. 14th - First Day for Preschool Students

Estill County Regional Career and Technical Center: Updates and Information

Several weeks ago, the Estill County School District received confirmation that our grant application for the Work Ready Skills Initiative (WRSI) was approved and the district was awarded $5.7 million to build a Regional Career and Technical Center.   As superintendent, I wanted to give you a quick update on our progress and talk about several questions that have arisen since the approval of our grant.

Summer Food Service Program

Estill County Schools is participating in the Summer Food Service Program. Meals will be provided to all children without charge and are the same for all children regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability, and there will be no discrimination in the course of the meal service. Meals will be provided, at a first come, first serve basis, at the sites and times as follows:
