Updated Covid News

As we continue to navigate the challenges of this Covid-19 pandemic we are constantly receiving updates and experiencing changes in information.  There has been an update recently regarding quarantine changes from the CDC; these recent changes DO NOT apply to schools and their management of the Covid-19 virus.  We continue to follow and work closely with our local health department and will continue to do so as this remains a very fluid process.

DPH’s COVID Guidance Still in Effect
The current Kentucky Department for Public Health (DPH) guidance for K-12 schools is still in effect (https://chfs.ky.gov/agencies/dph/covid19/K-12Guidance.pdf), including the 10 days of isolation for students who test positive for COVID-19.

DPH is anticipating changes to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention school guidance, so it is unlikely that revised statewide guidance will be released until those changes can be reviewed. Schools should continue to follow the existing DPH K-12 guidance for isolation and quarantine in schools (https://chfs.ky.gov/agencies/dph/covid19/Cv19SchoolOnePager.pdf).

Covid Home Tests:
We also want to send a reminder to our families about the use of home covid tests.  Under the instruction of our local health department and under the guidance from KDPH we can not recognize these as a diagnostic tool for identification of a positive test result for schools or in cases of work absences.  In order to qualify for quarantine or isolation guidance a positive test result must come from an actual testing facility such as a health department, physician offices, pharmacies, hospitals, urgent treatment centers etc…

Please continue to follow recommended CDC guidelines to protect yourself and others from Covid-19.  Feel free to contact the schools or the District Office with any questions or concerns.

Have a great evening and we are excited to have our students back tomorrow!
