I have a BA in English (secondary teaching) with a minor in philosophy from Eastern Kentucky University. I also have a MA in American & British Literature, also from EKU. In 2004 I become a fellow in the National Writing Project.
I began my teaching career in 1993 as a substitute teacher for the Estill County Board of Education where I worked mainly with high school students and completed two long-term jobs for English teachers. The following year, I taught at Estill County High School teaching all levels of English before moving to the middle school to teach 8th grade reading and homebound (K-12) for one year. I then moved into a full-time language arts position at Estill County Middle School where I've been ever since.
